Model and actress Shilpa Shetty is from India. Since her debut in the 1993 film Baazigar, she has made appearances in nearly 50 Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada language films; her first leading role was in the 1994 film Aag. Shetty was willing to reinvent herself quite frequently, even though her career experienced years of decline.
She received positive reviews for her roles in the films Dhadkan (2000) and Rishtey (2002), and she received numerous honors for her portrayal of an AIDS patient in Phir Milenge (2004). Shamita Shetty, her younger sister, is also an actress in Bollywood movies. Shetty participated in Celebrity Big Brother UK and won the competition. and is the first celebrity version of the game features an Indian celebrity. 31 rupees reportedly paid 5 m (£367,500 GBP) for her participation, she said to presenter Davina McCall, “I just want every Indian to be extremely proud that I’m in here”.

Shetty spent her time teaching meditation to Ken Russell and Carole Malone in the house, flirting with Dirk Benedict, but by Day 7 tensions began to rise as a clique formed that didn’t like Shilpa’s presence. Following a worldwide controversy that publicised her as a target of racist bullying within the house, Shetty won the contest after gaining 63% of the public vote and described the experience as “incredible and overwhelming”. She further thanked the public for “a fantastic opportunity to make my country proud”.
