It’s never been simpler to purchase underwear online thanks to the countless lingerie and pant sites that are available. It’s fun to browse and contrast different websites’ panty offerings.
In the UK, panties are now more commonly referred to as panties rather than knickers, which has more’sensible’ overtones.
The following explanation of different types of underwear should be useful to you as you make purchasing decisions. This is especially intended for men who may want to buy some new underwear for a special woman in their lives.
Bikini panties
Bikini briefs typically have a full back, though this can vary, and these pants tend to ride low on the hips.
Full brief
Generally speaking, the panty’s top is higher and rests on the waist. They became famous for their amusing antics because they were the panties in the Bridget Jones movie. There are a few variants of this design too:
Boy leg
These briefs have a horizontal leg finish that gives them the appearance of being tightly fitted boy’s shorts. Usually, lacy or sheer materials are used to create such designs.
High Cut Panties
These are the opposite of boy leg in that the sides of the brief are cut to reveal more of the top of the thigh; they look very sexy because they heighten and emphasize the appearance of the wearer’s long legs. They are also referred to as French cut.
Thong Panties
The thong is made up of a small triangle of fabric at the front and a narrow waistband at the back that is attached to a string (or sometimes nothing more) there.
The back of a thong is usually very slim and disappears between the buttock cheeks, so very little material is used to make them. It’s ideal for wearing underneath extremely tight-fitting pants because it gets rid of the VPL, or visible panty line. Additionally, it looks fantastic when layered under white because it makes pants completely disappear! Although the initial sensation of these panties can be quite different, once you get used to it, you’ll probably become addicted to them. The thong appears to be the most popular type of underwear among women up to the age of twenty-five, according to online surveys. However, it must be noted that the survey should not be taken too seriously because it only referred to a relatively small group of people and was self-selected. It’s possible that more people wearing thongs chose to respond while fewer people wearing other types of panties did.
The thong, or the tanga as it is known in Brazil, has a number of variants:
The amount of fabric attaching to the waistband at the back varies with the G-string, V-string, and T-back styles. Some authorities claim that strippers’ underwear is where the G-string got its start, and descriptions of these items do appear to vary from nation to nation.
Crotchless panties (also known as open-crotch)
This panty’s design is self-explanatory, and for obvious reasons, it’s a popular option for bedroom wear.
Panty sizes
However, the sizing is typically the biggest issue when purchasing pants online. The main problem is that different countries all have unique ways of defining size. In a “bricks and mortar” store, you can physically see the underwear, whereas online, you must rely on the descriptions’ accuracy. Some online retailers offer conversion charts for sizes, letting customers go from, say, continental Europe to the UK or Australia. Sizes can vary even within Europe, so conversion tables between, say, France and Italy, will be necessary. Unfortunately, the sizes of American panties are the most difficult to convert between.
Strangely, despite the fact that there are probably more American lingerie retailers online than those from other nations, they have made it difficult for people living in other nations to actually buy from them with confidence based on sizing!
Materials used for panties
A variety of materials, including lace, satin, and nylon, are used, just like with other lingerie. The gusset frequently comes with a built-in cotton crotch in the USA, for sure. Although there are companies in the UK that are currently producing retro copies of sheer nylon designs from the 1950s, it is likely more difficult to find pants without the cotton crotch. Although such designs might not be appropriate for daily wear, they are meant to enrage the man in your life! It’s interesting that the materials and designs that have consistently led to frequent “re-orders” from the sites I work with are the traditional classic designs in satin finish. The material feels incredibly silky to wear and has a sexy glossy finish that looks great on. Unfortunately, I don’t wear thongs, so these are the pants I prefer to wear.) However, I’ve looked all over the world for suppliers, and I’ve found that there aren’t many businesses that use this delicate satin fabric.
So the next time you consider expanding your lingerie collection, follow the example of so many busy women and use your computer to browse through the most cozy, sexy pantie options from the comfort of your home!
